My Story

John Presseault is a highly accomplished plein air artist with over four decades of experience in painting. He was born in 1949 in Temiscaming, Quebec, where he developed his passion for nature and the landscape during his childhood explorations in the surrounding woods and creeks. John's painting style has evolved over the years, blending realism, impressionism, pointillism, graphic art, and fantasy into a unique aesthetic.

His latest works showcase his signature thick, wet-on-wet painting technique, which creates textured and rich paintings. John primarily works with oils, but he occasionally produces acrylic pieces that showcase his versatility as an artist.

He graduated from the Fine Art/Drawing and Painting program at the Ontario College of Art and Design (O.C.A.D.) in Toronto, where he had the opportunity to attend their open studio course in Florence, Italy, for four months. While in Florence, John studied under the renowned American painter Richard Serrin, which helped shape his artistic vision.

John's passion for the arts is evident in his work, and he has gained recognition for his unique style and artistic voice. He divides his time between his hometown of Temiscaming and Toronto, where he shares a home with his beloved dog Boots. When he's not painting, John enjoys exploring nature and traveling to new places, which often inspire his artistic creations. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums throughout Canada, John's paitings can be found in private collections across Canada, the United States, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

John Presseaut continues to be an influential figure in the Canadian art scene.
