My Story

Laurie is an accomplished artist based in Toronto with an impressive body of work that spans across canvases, paper, and children's books. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) and has been creating art that can be found in homes throughout North America and Europe. She is represented by the Koyman Galleries in Ottawa, Red Canoe Gallery in Port Carling Mountainside Gallery in Collingwood and ART on 62 Gallery in Madoc.

Laurie has received critical acclaim for her paintings, winning the Canadian entry for her piece entitled "DOUBLE TAKE" at the Spanish Miradas International Art Competition in 2016 and again in 2018 for her painting, "AS I SEE IT." Her paintings have been featured on various magazine covers and profiled in Toronto's Rosedale magazine, Unique Muskoka, Canadian Journal of Rural Medicine, and Canadian Living.

Apart from painting, Laurie is an accomplished llustrator/designer of children's books. Her book, SPECTACULARLY BEAUTIFUL, written by Lisa Lucas, Powbooks NY, received a glowing review from the New York Times and was named a Heather's Pick for Best Books for kids 2019, as well as earning the coveted Kirkus star. Her latest book, WHEN THE EARTH SHOOK, Tilbury House, Maine, is another Heather's Pick and was chosen as a best picture book for 2020 by Publisher's Spotlight and the Canadian Children's Book Centre.

Laurie is also a talented character designer for TV shows and apps and licenses her art through the Suzanne Cruise Creative Agency.

She teaches both adults and children how to draw digitally on Zoom, as well as painting workshops in person at Artbarn in Toronto. In the summer, Laurie uses her cottage in Muskoka as her studio to create her artwork, while spending the rest of the year in Toronto.
